We left Santa Rosa around 8:00 and headed East on Hwy 12. We got to I-80 about an hour later.
We continued East on I-80 over the Sierra’s.
Going through the mountains is always scenic.
The Truckee River east of Lake Tahoe.
We went through Reno/Sparks at around 12:30.
I-80 east of Reno.
We continued east to Lovelock where we stopped to eat lunch and top off the gas tank. Rain drops on the windshield.
The weather is getting a bit cloudy and humid.
We even got a few raindrops on the wind shield but with the air temperature over 90 degrees they dried up right away but the clouds persist.
Finally, we arrived in Winnemucca around 4:00. We pulled into the Walmart parking lot and set up to spend the night. I took a nap and when I was awake a real beat up converted bus pulled in along side us. There were about 13 guys and three women in the bus. As soon as they got settled a few of them got out their “will work for money” signs and took up positions near the parking lot entrances. Several of the others were just hanging out between our two RV’s.
It was time to go get some dinner so I decided to drive the RV to the Model T Casino/Restaurant.
After dinner we decided to stay in the Model T’s rear parking lot. While Patti did a little gambling, I leveled the RV and fired up the generator and the AC.
Okay, that’s day one. Tomorrow we are going to drive north on Hwy. 95 to Nampa, Idaho where we will stop for the night to visit with Lillie and Tom, a couple of our Jeeping friends from Quartzsite.
