Patti and I got up to the cabin around 11:30. We got moved in and had lunch.
I drug some plastic pipe up the hill to connect to the overflow of the cabin tank. It reached all the way to the cabin. I brought the line around the back of the big stump on the hill and let it drip into an old disc that I found up the hill to make a small water feature.
The main reason I brought the overflow pipe down the hill is so I can tell if the spring is running without having to climb up the hill. We are also going to plant some flowers around the stump so the overflow water will irrigate them.
We drove down to the Grove to open the gate for the people that are coming up for the weekend. Then we drove up to the top gate to put the party lock on the gate. This is a lock that we use for parties so that we don’t have to give out the combo to the main lock.
Joanne and Dave showed up around 6:00.
We visited with them until bed time.
Thursday:
Patti and I went down to the shooting area in the morning where we finished cutting down the weeds.
Our friend James showed up around 3:00. We hung out and visited for the rest of the day.
James shooting at clays on Saturday.
Friday 07-04: Happy Birthday USA.
After breakfast, around 10:00 we headed down to the creek for the day.
The young folks had their camp set up at the grove.
That is, Elisa, Mat ,
and 3 month old, Riley
Renee, 7 year old Cody,
Mike
and their new 3 month old son, Logan.
Peter and his son, Leon, were also camped at the Grove.
Rod
and his daughter Kate, showed up around noon.
Patti bought a couple of Noodles with heads on them. They were a big hit with everyone.
We cooked dinner at the grove on the tailgate of Dave’s pickup.
The kids found a turtle in the creek. It is the first one we have seen here in the 25 years that we have been coming up here.
Patti and I went back to the cabin around 7:30.
Saturday:
Saturday morning around 10:00 we went down to the range and shot some clays for a couple of hours.
The white puff in front of the shooter is not gun smoke., it is the clay pigeon disintegrating.
Below; The orange dot in front of the barrel is a clay pigeon.
The young families left early. The rest of the day we just hung out in the yard by the cabin eating, drinking and visiting and following the shade around.
Sunday:
We left the cabin for home around 11:00.
It was a very pleasant fourth of July.
Now we have to get ready to leave tomorrow on our trip to Canada.
