We took a ride to some towers high in the Rockies.
On the way to Moyie to top off the jeeps we stopped to take some pictures of Moyie Lake.
We topped off the jeeps at Moyie and headed into the woods.
The forest up here looks to be mostly Lodge Pole Pine and lots of wild flowers. Patti immediately went into flower picture mode so here are some of the pictures.
The local name for the flowers below are red hot pokers.
I believe these are called Queen Ann’s Lace.
The trail climbed up the mountains toward the towers.
Eventually made it to the towers but we weren’t at the top yet.
WE took a trail around the mountaintop to pay respect to a deceased friend Susanne and Roy named Joe. As we drove by his marker we said “hello Joe.”
We then went up a steep hill to another installation of some kind.
We aren’t sure exactly what was going on here but it is probably some kind of communications system.
The view from here is pretty spectacular.
Here is Joe’s view.
After checking out the views and the towers we headed back down the mountain.
We had hoped maybe to see a bear on this ride but all we saw was where one had been.
Eventually we stopped for lunch near a beautiful stream.
After we finished lunch Susanne was walking around and noticed all this saw dust on the plants around a large tree.
Upon further inspection she noticed Ants in the tree pushing out sawdust from holes in the trunk.
We left the ants to their labors and headed for home.
Donna and Greg have a trailer in the Park where Susanne and Roy used to have theirs. It is a nice park on the shore of Moyie Lake.
Around 5:30 we went to Donna and Greg’s for dinner. Their son Corey had cooked some Chicken Parmesan and Pasta salad for dinner with Straw Berry short cake for dessert. Yum yum!
Here we are sitting down for dinner. Around the table right to left;
Corey, Susanne, Donna, Greg, Roy and me.
We stayed around after dinner and visited until around 9:30
Great day topped off with a great dinner and fun visit.
