We took a ride into Banff yesterday with Suzanne and Roy.
Our first stop after entering the park was Lake Minnewanka. It is a beautiful lake surrounded by some awesome mountains.
From Lake Minnewanka we headed for the town of Banff.
Banff is inside the national park and is a fairly large town with lots of tourist shops, restaurant’s and lots of congestion.
We found a parking spot and walked around the tourist section of town looking in windows.
We wandered through a couple of shops.
Patti finally found Bullwinkel in one of the shops.
There was a guy playing a fiddle in one of the rest areas along the street.
We went into one store that sold nothing but fudge.
Of course we had to buy some. We continued along the street checking out the shops.
Eventually we got back to the car. We drove to the end of the main street to the Banff Hotel. It is a huge edifies built of stone in a Victorian style.
We finally left the town of Banff and continued our tour of the park.
We were headed for Lake Louise. There is another big hotel there called the Chateu Lake Louise.
Parking was impossible so we didn’t get a look at the lake. There is no where that you can see the lake from the road. So if you want to see what Lake Louise looks like you will have to buy a post card, which we didn’t.
We did get a nice view of a glacier behind the hotel.
We continued our tour, taking the Bow River Park way hoping to see some of the famous Alberta bears.
Unfortunately the only bears we saw were carved from wood
at a place where we stopped for lunch. It was a large resort with lots of log buildings,
I think it was called the Bear Creek Bistro.
There were more animal sculptures scattered around the property.
After a very nice lunch we continued our ride enjoying the scenery.
The mountains below are called the Three Sisters.
We had a beautiful ride and got back to the RV around 4:00.
At 6:00 Patti and I went over to Suzanne and Roy’s to play cards.
Of course we had a lot of laughs with them.
A fun day!
