Note:
Almost all the pictures on this post were taken by Bob.
We met at the Arco on the east end of town.
Bob was riding with me and Patti was riding with Becky and Dennis.
From there we drove east 26 miles on I-10 to Vicksburg Road where we topped off the fuel tanks in our jeeps.
From Vicksburg Road we continued east on I-10 until we came to the Hovatter Road. We exited there turned south and after a short distance we stopped to air down.
After airing down we followed a narrow trail into an area where the rock hunters wanted to look for rocks.
We stopped there for a while and the hunters looked for rocks.
While we were there, Tom brought to my attention a rock that had an bit of old graffiti.
Now the question is. Is this graffiti, a petro glyph or a historical marker?
From here we headed north through the desert toward the town of Hope, Arizona.
We followed several trails.
We got on what I call the merry-go-round. By that I mean we drove up
and down
and round and round.
Through washes along ridges, over peaks and through some pretty valley’s.
The scenery was very nice with lots of flowering plants along the way.
We came to one dead end where there was an old mine we stopped here for a while.
The trail had just the right mix of easy going with a few small challenges to make it interesting.
Eventually we came to Harquahala Road and followed it to the town of Salome. We stopped at a fruit stand there and aired up the tires on the jeep.
Bob and I headed for home while everyone else stopped at the KOFA cafe for ice cream and Pie.
Patti got home around 4:30.
Bob left around 4:45 and is going to head north to play in Nevada.
Patti and I went to Silly Al’s for dinner.
