Background.
There is an OHV (off highway vehicle) Park In Logandale, Nevada, about 30 miles west of Mesquite.
On Saturday, Denis went over there to check it out. There was some kind of event going on and the place was a zoo with ATV’s, dirt bikes and jeeps going in all directions. With kids, and dogs everywhere.
Denis said that there are trails all over the place and that we should go there on Monday and check it out.
Playing in the Rocks.
Monday morning, around 9:30 we headed west on I-15 for Logandale and the OHV park.
At the exit for Highway 169 we headed south toward Logandale.
In Logandale we turned right on Liston Ave. We followed this road around the west side of town to the trail where we headed west.
We got to a large staging area and stopped to air down the tires.
We stopped at this camping area to check things out.
You can see a few of the trails behind the red rocks.
The First Challenge.
We headed into rocks.
Denis stopped at the top of this little hill and got out of his jeep.
At first I couldn’t see why he stopped until I walked up to his jeep to take a look.
It doesn’t look to bad from the top, so why do you need a spotter.
This is what it looks like from down below.
Yes, with good spotting you can go over some pretty rough spots.
Once we were through that we continued along the trail.
We took some side trails to see where they went. This one took us to this waterfall. We didn’t attempt this one.
It looked doable but didn’t go anywhere.
There are neat looking rocks everywhere.
We continued along the trail going over more rocks.
A Motor Home? In here?
We came upon this motor home camped at a wide area along the trail.
I couldn’t figure out how they got it in here. I found out later that there is a good gravel road coming to this spot.
Continuing On.
We drove on through this valley you can see all the trails ahead of us.
We passed a nice side canyon.
Cool rock.
A Peanut Break.
We stopped for a short break.
Colorful Mountains.
We took a turn off to the west and headed into some colorfully striped mountains.
The trail goes into a colorful canyon.
At the bottom of the canyon is another challenge that required some guidance.
We continued along the trail. There were a few bumps here and there but nothing we can’t handle.
We cruised along like this until lunch time; going in and out of gullies, over rocks and dusty roads
The scenery doesn’t let up. This is looking into the Valley of Fire State Park.
Lunch.
We found a large flat spot near a mining area with a view of the Valley of Fire.
Striped Mountains and Arches
After lunch we continued along the trail enjoying the views.
Awesome view.
Arches.
There are lots of arches throughout the area. Here are a couple of the nicer ones.
Patti called this one the dragons eye.
Here is another nice arch.
Another interesting spot.
We dropped into this deep gully.
From the bottom of the gully the trail looks pretty interesting but it wasn’t as hard as it appears.
We continued along like this for couple more hours.
We stopped to check out this difficult challenge.
We decided to take the bypass.
Eventually we arrived at an onramp for I-15.
We stopped here to air up the tires before getting on the interstate and heading for home.
This was a great ride. We had so much fun here, that we are coming back tomorrow (Tuesday) to do it again.
