Lets go Back
We had such a good time yesterday (Monday) at the Logandale Trails OHV area that we decided to go back and play some more. The trails are fun and extremely scenic so it is a win win.
Playing in the Sand.
Just before we got to the place where we went down this waterfall on Monday,
we turned to the left and went down the good road where that motorhome went down.
We were heading into a valley of sand and sculptured rock.
For a while the trail is a mixture of sand and gravel but eventually the gravel disappears.
The trail (I use the term loosely, for as you can see at this place the trail is just a bunch of tire tracks going every which way). leads us into a canyon bordered by red cliffs.
Denis got frisky and did a couple of donuts at a large wide spot.
What was that clunk sound? Tabernaque!
Oh, It’s nothing, just bent the belly guard a little.
Everything appears to be working fine so we continue on…
driving on nice soft sand among fascinating rocks formations.
Every once in a while Denis would take a turn onto some other trail
and of course we follow.
This one took us to some challenging looking waterfalls, etc. but we turned around and continued our tour of the sand and rock.
Here is Denis checking it out.
We continue.
Along the road we pass this balanced rock.
A little ways further we decide to go to the top of that hill to take a look around and get our bearings.
There is a good flat spot on top of the hill to park.
Off to the east we can see Logandale.
To the north we can see a trail with some ATV’s on it.
We decided to head back into the red rocks and see what we can find.
We are dropping down into another beautiful valley.
Denis stops his jeep and says over the radio “Sue see’s a ram.”
When we catch up Sue is out of her jeep and taking pictures. As soon as I stop the jeep, Patti jumps out with her camera and goes to join Sue.
Nice Ram!
Eventually he got board with us and wandered off
Well that was cool!
Now its time to move along again.
Lunch.
We found a spot off the road in the shade of some rocks to have lunch.
While we were there a couple of planes flue over;
One jet liner…
and another small plane.
It looked like the small plane dropped something and then flew around in circles for a while. After a while the plane flew off.
Slick Rock.
After lunch we got to play on a little bit of slick rock.
That was fun for a while but shortly we were back in the sand.
We stop at this spot and Denis takes a walk to survey the route.
As it turned out there wasn’t a route through there but it was a nice place to hang out for a while.
A Geo Cash.
As we were leaving this spot, Patti noticed something in a hole in the rocks.
It turned out to be a geo cash.
Patti checked it out and then put it back in the hole.
More Slick Rock.
Leaving here we got to drive on some more slick rock.
As we were driving in a wash we saw this cave and stopped to investigate.
The cave didn’t go back very far, maybe 15 feet.
Off we go again. Checkout the red red rocks.
We are getting close to the end of the ride and still we are in the red rocks.
Over the hill and down the other side we find civilization.
We got home around 5:15 tired and satisfied that we had another great day of jeeping. We have been here for 9 days and have had 5 days of excellent jeeping.
We have seen some beautiful country and I want to come back here some time because there are a lot more trails to explore.
Today (Wednesday)
Today, Patti did laundry, I washed and loaded stuff in the jeep and did some house work.
We are leaving here tomorrow morning and heading for Quartzsite.
We plan to stop in Bullhead City for the night and then go on to Q Friday morning.
I will be driving the motorhome and Patti will follow me in then jeep.
