A weenie roast and moon rise. 02-16-14

While we were gone this summer our pond turned very green so yesterday I drained the pond, cleaned the bottom and refilled it.

In the afternoon we went to a weenie roast out in the desert.
It was a small group.
There was: Susanne, Roy, Sue, Denis, Shirley, Bill, Dianne, Dino, Patti and me.

Of course we had a lot of laughs.

I think everyone knows about the different kinds of camp fires.
Such as: an Indian fire which is small and efficient. You sit close and it will keep you warm all night.

Next is a white man fire which is big and wasteful of wood. You can’t get close and you will be out of wood and cold by before morning.

Then there is the Canadian redneck fire where you burn whole trees and sit way back while trying to cook hotdogs.

Of course living in the great white north, I guess you need to burn whole trees to keep warm.

Suzanne had some packets of copper sulphate that she threw in the fire. It made for some colorful flames.

We stayed out there waiting for the moon to rise. Around 8:00 it peeked over the mountains to the east.
Unfortunately the sky was cloudy so the moon rise wasn’t as spectacular as we expected.

We got home around 9:00. The weenie roast was fun as usual.
Thank you Shirley and Bill for providing us with hot dogs and trimmings.
Thanks to Shirley for all the photos for this post.
