Still Having Computer Problems.</h3>
I have been trying to publish a blog for several days now but my computer hasn't been able to get on the blog site. This morning however it worked so here it goes.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Dripping Springs.</h3>
We met the rest of the group at the 76 Station on Main Street and Highway 97. My niece Connie and her husband Bruce came along on this ride. You can see their jeep on the right in the photo below.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
At 9:00 we headed south on 95 to La Posa North BLM camping area. We cut through the camp area and eventually found the wash that goes to Dripping Springs.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The wash is kind of neat with some high walls in some places.</div>

After a little ways the trail becomes a little rocky.</div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There are some minor obstacles in the wash but they aren't to hard to get over.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a small ledge to climb.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next obstacle is a bit harder but has several spots of lesser difficulty so everybody can get buy it.</div>

This is the hardest approach and Eric getting over it.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Tom and Bruce took the easiest route around the left side. Gene and I took the medium hard side on the right. We all got through the spot and continued up the wash.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We drove up to The Dripping Spring parking area. Unfortunately this is the only picture we got there. The spring is in the canyon.</div>

The mail Box Cabin.</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We left Dripping Springs and wound our way along the narrow wash.</div>

Blog Issues.</h3>
I have been having problems with the blog software. The problem is with Live Writer connecting to Blogger.<br />
I was pretty frustrated with the whole thing so I decided to take a break and see if the two systems might start talking again. <br />
It has been a week or so and still can't publish. I am using blogger now so maybe it will work.<br />
<br />
<h3>
A Jeep Ride.</h3>
<br />
On Wednesday we took a ride with the Wednesday jeep group. We met at the Fire Station and headed north to Parker where we topped off the jeeps. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYYCu_0f0vGUN39zLHYy6h7cvOi6ozxQ0gD29PCe5IOtWvpsgMiXPaCDNCniU0Wxc45q0fUv_xBWEW37uEC16-fV8T_syO63260ekESTEDT-AVwg5dgiMrA18X0Wqyf3OibJ35bmp3puc/s1600/IMGP3612.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYYCu_0f0vGUN39zLHYy6h7cvOi6ozxQ0gD29PCe5IOtWvpsgMiXPaCDNCniU0Wxc45q0fUv_xBWEW37uEC16-fV8T_syO63260ekESTEDT-AVwg5dgiMrA18X0Wqyf3OibJ35bmp3puc/s640/IMGP3612.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
From there we drove further north on AZ95. We crossed the Bill Williams River and a couple miles farther we came to a large turnout where many people dry camp. Here we stopped to air down.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1EiWw-bmp6ioQQTfpJ9jXuxsLRWk3eWNngPDiy9KzBLh8FD_qQfuxt3N5c6742uMLKjFuyrVDcLgXlMELU3ug7QWJpaS6zWEr8XLsLe4jRUQSHg8SZCPqXGEqsebcl8umEsDV_5zmXAE/s1600/IMGP3636.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1EiWw-bmp6ioQQTfpJ9jXuxsLRWk3eWNngPDiy9KzBLh8FD_qQfuxt3N5c6742uMLKjFuyrVDcLgXlMELU3ug7QWJpaS6zWEr8XLsLe4jRUQSHg8SZCPqXGEqsebcl8umEsDV_5zmXAE/s640/IMGP3636.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
We are just north of the Parker Dam. To the west we can see the pipes that take water from Lake Havasu and send it to Southern California.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaKrkAF_1nbMzQRe1ZT0oxKDq4RbhduaKUspp5C1SY6qofvhemeKG7BxjnQNE_457kmFMd0-fGACpzdItuT44CvZv1VMinE9yDnFpulVpaa0Bt0EZRC-vKanODapyTCQS3gNpr82Q3Pgw/s1600/IMGP3637.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaKrkAF_1nbMzQRe1ZT0oxKDq4RbhduaKUspp5C1SY6qofvhemeKG7BxjnQNE_457kmFMd0-fGACpzdItuT44CvZv1VMinE9yDnFpulVpaa0Bt0EZRC-vKanODapyTCQS3gNpr82Q3Pgw/s640/IMGP3637.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
At the north end of the parking area we dropped into a wash.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcjzz15r_j7BGZRgDKqfdVCek8dKCiuKrxoOTLbav-wPfRdsiTgJhKjKdn7_-I1NaVCKzlgxteJ6Vni0fSQ3biDQd01ETJv2_aVbtcit2JR01TkVSePDdKih1hY2dNsrmQJjU68uUfGz4/s1600/IMGP3644.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcjzz15r_j7BGZRgDKqfdVCek8dKCiuKrxoOTLbav-wPfRdsiTgJhKjKdn7_-I1NaVCKzlgxteJ6Vni0fSQ3biDQd01ETJv2_aVbtcit2JR01TkVSePDdKih1hY2dNsrmQJjU68uUfGz4/s640/IMGP3644.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As we drove up the narrow wash, Patti saw these Pincushion Cactus.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaJvwhy8MbKVrb50CxvUUj9_mxTIqosxHB1ZZBORs2ogZ1mTTaJ_tJ8aVCKm4FhB8sVuuBxp102-pYMppwsm8DuZDplJ7h7dfDxBawHeSPqB5AlMRwYXkYunG2VRgcC94dLPwdoDMNla0/s1600/IMGP3649.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaJvwhy8MbKVrb50CxvUUj9_mxTIqosxHB1ZZBORs2ogZ1mTTaJ_tJ8aVCKm4FhB8sVuuBxp102-pYMppwsm8DuZDplJ7h7dfDxBawHeSPqB5AlMRwYXkYunG2VRgcC94dLPwdoDMNla0/s640/IMGP3649.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
At the end of the wash there are some rocks that we have to get through.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigZjIZawx4SjX6qWEMjLcNseSOVVs7dloRvb9sHw3UCJ6-L3iQ_9g05p56OQPJXeDkpxrxUWsuiAylUqykzZA5ErofwL9Jl57p89uxU1oofT1v2jsxMrwkiugXdcEb_hmF2pLDx6dJXt8/s1600/IMGP3657.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigZjIZawx4SjX6qWEMjLcNseSOVVs7dloRvb9sHw3UCJ6-L3iQ_9g05p56OQPJXeDkpxrxUWsuiAylUqykzZA5ErofwL9Jl57p89uxU1oofT1v2jsxMrwkiugXdcEb_hmF2pLDx6dJXt8/s640/IMGP3657.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
They aren't to hard, you just have to take the right line and go slow.<br />
<br />
<h3>
The Needle</h3>
Once we were through the rocks we headed for the Needle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizPoPME81YoqYTLBKX0_1vi-8I7Of2CZQIRlgNBOHZXRXhyphenhyphenG8aa4bHvA5YYH60HHJYV01vGvxOfIhNMXGaKtybm24238cQvw9EdWmuvzQtkCSXI1UFSZSZvBBFmFGOOqK1QmmHRMqerZ8/s1600/IMGP3664.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizPoPME81YoqYTLBKX0_1vi-8I7Of2CZQIRlgNBOHZXRXhyphenhyphenG8aa4bHvA5YYH60HHJYV01vGvxOfIhNMXGaKtybm24238cQvw9EdWmuvzQtkCSXI1UFSZSZvBBFmFGOOqK1QmmHRMqerZ8/s640/IMGP3664.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Here we are arriving at the base of the needle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOtV-lU083Ud8gkFUsT4zekJsaVIfXE8ysdDl4vh4QsHdxe6B____3IOJKQLqrmoGsbsbbcyil1V4UACiLYJ-mlYNedwVCcl2Ec1NN985AIthzEdSumrQBJybhyEXkEoT3znC0MRMihnA/s1600/IMGP3669.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOtV-lU083Ud8gkFUsT4zekJsaVIfXE8ysdDl4vh4QsHdxe6B____3IOJKQLqrmoGsbsbbcyil1V4UACiLYJ-mlYNedwVCcl2Ec1NN985AIthzEdSumrQBJybhyEXkEoT3znC0MRMihnA/s640/IMGP3669.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Most everyone else climbed to the base of the needle to look through the eye. A hole at the base of the needle. I have seen it many times so I didn't climb the hill.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<h3>
Cattail Cove.</h3>
From the Needle we headed for Cattail Cove.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<h3>
Lunch.</h3>
On the way to Cattail Cove, we stopped at a spot in a wash out of the cold wind to have lunch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I am not sure what is going on with the blogger software I use but it has taken me three days to do this blog because the program kept locking up. I would leave it for a day, then it would work again for a while. </div>

It may have something to do with all the thousands of people that are here for the RV and Gem and Mineral shows. I think they were overwhelming the internet connections. </div>

Rain.</h3>
The rain started Monday evening and continued raining over night.<br />
When I got up I noticed a leak in the kitchen. The water is coming out of an air conditioning vent.<br />

Dave and I went to the dump to get rid of our garbage. <br>When we got back we dumped the waste tanks on the Motorhome and the 5th Wheel.</p><p>Patti and Joanne went to the laundromat. <br>Since my back is messed up from blocking up the container, I didn’t do any house work. </p><h3>Pork and Pepper Stew.</h3><p>For supper I fixed a pork and sweet pepper stew. It turned out pretty good.</p><p>The stew is made from pork tenderloin cut into bite sized pieces, sweet peppers, onion, garlic, new potatoes, A little celery, seasoned salt, herbs and spices that you like and any vegetables you want to put in. Make a stew as you would any other. It’s good.</p><h1>Monday.</h1><h3>Joanne’s Back.</h3><p>The day before Joanne and Dave came down here, Joanne ‘s back went out on her. The whole time she has been down here she has been in sever pain. We have been waiting to see if she got any better so we could take her on a jeep ride. Unfortunately the pain has persisted and she is anxious to get home to see a doctor.</p><h3>Ramsey Mine Road.</h3><p>Therefore we only have one day left for Dave and I to take a desert ride. </p><p>Monday morning Dave and I headed east on I-10 to the hwy.60 turnoff. We followed 60 to the Ramsey Mine Road where we headed south on Ramsey Mine Road. </p><p>We stopped at Ramsey Mine.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ssKGFFrsbqc/XD5fUdatvXI/AAAAAAAArcI/iLFxAFkAqVo2wSVPkz5vJBi49smtA0QWACHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4639%255B5%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4639" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4639" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-o9faPXN9jac/XD5fc0okACI/AAAAAAAArcM/-fMc_U2-loAGytYvy25XPOG47xEyYKtDgCHMYCw/IMG_4639_thumb%255B1%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><h3>Lookout Rock.</h3><p>We left Ramsey Mine and drove over the hills and through a valley. On a ridge to the east we saw a large rock and a trail going to it so we drove up the trail and checked out the view.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-cnZhq0tRoTE/XD5fgNEJFrI/AAAAAAAArcQ/YpRcrZqO3WIb_GEgFZqvrQrKHbMjILeMACHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4646%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4646" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4646" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EvgY3wGP2yI/XD5fjiFq87I/AAAAAAAArcU/EzSvUovMykM6ALa4Y-aOY5ra-6Ks6MaSgCHMYCw/IMG_4646_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>From here we drove around for a while and stopped for lunch in this high valley.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Y70DwwucD8k/XD5foG8twRI/AAAAAAAArcc/l2X-RQhNVGAH_r66_wt19-lz_9kklNjTgCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4647%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4647" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4647" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5sFRv91L32qqFO5FF5pP3spFpg-rkG2pU_0tnbaX2GFPp-l8ClN573ij4C0Ug2lpzGhjFaYdW2uj2jwPkEt10X7wu33bPlFpj2YrSBnHwN-VJx9AWsCuQ_eQW6irRuIKMLf88UMSlTYQ/?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>Unfortunately, since Patti wasn’t with us I didn’t get any other pictures.</p><p>We got home around 3:30. </p><h3>Shopping.</h3><p>While Dave and I were wandering around in the desert, Patti, Cheryl, and Joanne went shopping at the the venders again. They did pretty good and didn’t buy much of anything.</p><h3>Supper.</h3><p>We tried to go to Silly Al’s for supper but we couldn’t find a parking space so we went to The Grubstake again. It was good as usual.</p><p>Okay that’s about it for the last couple of days.</p>Martyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02567448418333203194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8869420509584241326.post-59890930246402114812019-01-13T08:25:00.001-08:002019-01-13T08:25:51.072-08:00Brunch and Shopping in Parker, AZ.<h3><br>Brunch.</h3><p>We decided to go out for breakfast but by the time we were all ready to go it was about 11:30 so we went to Brunch instead.</p><h3>Shopping in Parker.</h3><p>Our first stop was Walmart, to return the electric heater we bought last week. The heater is too small and doesn’t put out enough heat. We started the heater with the room at 65° and after an hour the temp was down to 61°. That just won’t cut it so we took the heater back to Walmart.</p><p>While we were there we did some other shopping. As usual we weren’t able to get everything we wanted at Walmart so we went across the street to Safeway to finish our shopping. </p><p>While we were at Safeway we bought a couple of roast chickens for our supper.</p><h3>Back Home</h3><p>We got home around 4:30 and about 5:30 we ate the chickens. After that we played cards until around 9:15. <br>Joanne and Dave went back to the motorhome and we watched the news until around 10:15, when I went to bed.</p><p>That was our Saturday.</p>Martyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02567448418333203194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8869420509584241326.post-72913910479070650522019-01-12T08:38:00.001-08:002019-01-12T09:12:04.102-08:00Blocking up the Container and a Visit with Joann and Dave’s Friends.<h3>Blocking up the Container.</h3><p>This morning I decided to put the container on a couple of 4X4’s.<br>To do this we had to use two farm jacks; one on each side so we could lift the end off the ground far enough to slide a 4x4 underneath.</p><p>Dennis and Becky came by for a visit and Dennis said he had another farm jack and would go get it. When Dennis came back <br>we put a jack on each side and tried to lift the end of the container.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--e3M5XmSqaU/XDoXjO_hlTI/AAAAAAAAra0/LCwVDSFVc2AGTyEnLJ-DXF9y8ZQv-0PAACHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4626%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4626" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4626" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2cCaxhe4iwc/XDoXl4sHEVI/AAAAAAAAra4/4wlCZrG4vzUgWVOcrFysUNfQJFr4jBU5wCHMYCw/IMG_4626_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>We got it up a few inches and the container moved to the right about six inches and fell off the jacks. When it did that the rail on Dennis’s jack bent.</p><p>I am holding the rail in the photo below.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-LqBNuR4yQJg/XDoXoH2plFI/AAAAAAAAra8/inPgVirP4S8hvDeN8pVEJ__FhlylynEVQCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4628%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4628" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4628" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Busm90TxUX0/XDoXqh67xiI/AAAAAAAArbA/AWLsA1ATB6EcvMps6-TVG9GohyM1YzixwCHMYCw/IMG_4628_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>We were able to straighten the rail out by putting one end on a block and driving up the rail.</p><p>We decided to try using my jack in the middle of the containers back end and lifted it enough to get the 4x4 under the container.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-v0h7KH0ZuqY/XDoXvUsQuuI/AAAAAAAArbE/aX_vFtyYJoA0c3Fcm4Fs1U9Mh-o72Pn3wCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4629%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4629" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4629" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EyX0aUP6hAg/XDoXxu4AL1I/AAAAAAAArbI/bp1bS5PdHkQKm5LVN6Fay7_wIXFVmJSAQCHMYCw/IMG_4629_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>Next, we went to the front of the container. We decided to use both jacks on this end so we put one on each side of the container.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-kvwdPvSEuME/XDoXz01HLKI/AAAAAAAArbM/xTwiMkYBY9wWHU5A5FrUMm4sHLkPrHxtQCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4630%255B2%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4630" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4630" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6AhW0hDLnFI/XDoX3lbg2nI/AAAAAAAArbU/rHgIuBFrZRQpyQRfbLairZkletaHvd62wCHMYCw/IMG_4630_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p> We started jacking up the container and about an inch up Dennis’s jack ‘s handle bent. Dennis borrowed the jack from Carl. I guess I’ll have to buy him a new one.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-CpgdWnA2keI/XDoX6FSZCAI/AAAAAAAArbY/zyl_--TQjrgGVzl_eXMSuPb-ql7fRKC1gCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4635%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4635" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4635" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hEeyhQIG3kg/XDoX9XuPCeI/AAAAAAAArbc/bdbZP3AbrzQ6CiCpULzmeu4Y45_3Ua6_ACHMYCw/IMG_4635_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>We ended up using my jack in the center and were successful in getting the 4x4 under the front of the container.</p><p>That was a lot harder than I thought it would be so now my back is messed up again.</p><h3>Visitors.</h3><p>Around 2:00 friends of Joanne and Dave’s stopped by for a visit. We sat around on our patio and visited for about an hour.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-uFVpJJqGmso/XDoYCBiHRAI/AAAAAAAArbo/2XLugkPh2MYdzLXIPrFrPRjlVfLSutIaACHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_3995%255B2%255D"><img width="616" height="484" title="IMG_3995" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_3995" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-LTovsHCLZ8I/XDoYEendriI/AAAAAAAArbw/CR4RhWQ5oA0KgwbQb7y7Qflllq60oWvnACHMYCw/IMG_3995_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><h3>Supper at Dos Amigos. </h3><p>After our company left we drove to Vicksburg where we had a Mexican supper. Everyone liked their food. </p><h3>Cards.</h3><p>After we got home we played one game of Jokers Rummy. Joanne won this one.</p><p>Okay that was another productive day. </p>Martyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02567448418333203194noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8869420509584241326.post-1078168238627437392019-01-11T09:35:00.001-08:002019-01-11T09:35:18.292-08:00The Cargo Container Arrives.<h3><br>Waiting.</h3><p>The Cargo container is supposed to be delivered today so all we can do is wait for it.</p><h3>Leaking Hose.</h3><p>Around10:30 I noticed that one of the water hoses to the Motorhome was leaking. One of the fittings has a hole in it so I will have to replace the hose.<br>Dave and I drove over to Herb’s Hardware where I bought a new fresh water hose.</p><h3>Missed Call.</h3><p>As soon as we left, Patti got a call from the guy that is delivering the container. He was in Riverside at the time. <br>When I got home I called him back and made arrangements with him to call back when he was in Quartzsite. Then I could talk him in to our spot.</p><h3>Waiting Around.</h3><p>So we had to wait. We visited and even played a game of cards.</p><p>Around 4:00 the truck driver called and said he was in Q at the Arco station. I told him how to get to our place and that we would meet him on the corner of E Quail Trail Ave and N Pilgrim place.<br>Once he got there I had him to drive onto the neighbors lot and stop the truck and see where the container would go and so he could decide how he wanted to get there.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Yne1HTS1IYo/XDjTQUhNHLI/AAAAAAAArZM/-Afxi06TsvwOP1LrbZpUcFLyANfCHNG_gCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4604%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4604" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4604" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-WO0uvmCD4sg/XDjTTKOYpnI/AAAAAAAArZQ/jzej3lhZgkYpplUpbfoxdJm_L5ZBygVCQCHMYCw/IMG_4604_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>Once he figured out how he wanted to proceed he decided to drive across the neighbors lot and loop through our lot so he could drop off the container and pull out through the neighbors.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-neFljgmfWVc/XDjTVJVVNuI/AAAAAAAArZU/8-y-iXY_ON0ogjxX0dsb27eYTPCx1iifgCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4606%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4606" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4606" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EYIvW8qIcSg/XDjTXTVHKyI/AAAAAAAArZY/ZYqvHa11kKI2n0ZyhBo10B_QUGzagy9JACHMYCw/IMG_4606_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>He had to try several times to get the container straight in the spot .</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-jxVippMKu24/XDjTZc7_rSI/AAAAAAAArZc/0ADniKYXRJoCyq8ZWMaKyemP4JWmOe_NQCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4609%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4609" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4609" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6io94zAvAg8/XDjTbYGmxqI/AAAAAAAArZg/v0-CL2BxuDch7l-89A0KYC5lyuC6fIcQwCHMYCw/IMG_4609_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>Once he got the container as straight as he could, he dropped the back end.</p><p>He raised the tilt bed on the truck and the container slid off pretty close to my lines.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-u_0GfiVU2TY/XDjTdZAZOrI/AAAAAAAArZk/GFvClZhe8h8nL052yU30XXjlilhQNn9-QCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4613%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4613" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4613" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-JPbnjyV6fHA/XDjTfaim4bI/AAAAAAAArZo/O1-81VpnjV8V2OdptsqHKQefSKql05F5gCHMYCw/IMG_4613_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>The container ended up at a slight angle but that will make it easier to drive the jeep in to it.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-NzmHruwUQ9s/XDjTherT2LI/AAAAAAAArZs/nURFdxQU-QQJc4y5dFhzh2f3x-hkb0p0ACHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4617%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4617" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4617" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-VpvE9d7kTGs/XDjTjZ6X63I/AAAAAAAArZ0/qO4b-7C5GyI7o30QZ3P6nz7Zw_zpx9AowCHMYCw/IMG_4617_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><h3>Patti Writes the Check and the Truck Goes Away.</h3><p>Here is Patti writing the check.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-jHT5EsmMFRw/XDjTlQT9rqI/AAAAAAAArZ4/t8xVB_w8gXwVCT6S3kr0tZ45ntE547JSACHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4618%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4618" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4618" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-r4YLxi9vafE/XDjTnepll3I/AAAAAAAAraA/UldnTNKmZQokha4SJN2YKRWIaTb1cD6mgCHMYCw/IMG_4618_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>Here is the empty truck leaving.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/---tYKSlkOfk/XDjTpmmlPTI/AAAAAAAAraI/4L412VvsmTkzoRG0oKIobzRkmX85J0SQgCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4622%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4622" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4622" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8dLjFZAlVT8/XDjTrX85tVI/AAAAAAAAraM/omauzCiWgcc0W_ZlXeRhhQBkHoOodn8LACHMYCw/IMG_4622_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><h3>Inspecting the Container.</h3><p>The inside is white and that is a good thing. They will be here some time on Monday and will spend a week in our motorhome. </p><h3>Dos Amigos.</h3><p>A week ago when we were coming back from a jeep ride we stopped at a place called Dos Amigos Mexican Restaurant. We have driven past this place for years and never stopped to check it out. <br>When we finally decided to stop, we were very surprised to find a very large clean interior and a very friendly staff. I think we all expected it to be a dive. <br>It was too early to eat so we just ordered drinks and some chips and salsa. <br>The waitress was very friendly and told us that on Fridays they have Fish and Chips and it is very popular. <br>When we left we decided to come back the next Friday.</p><p>Around 3:00 we met Becky and Dennis at the Arco station and headed east on I-10 to the 60 turn off. We followed 60 east to just east of the town of Hope and turned right at the driveway to the Dos Amigos parking lot.</p><p>We all ordered the fish and chips and it was excellent. The batter was light with just a little crunch and stayed on the fish. The fish was North Atlantic Cod. It was very good and we got three nice sized fillets each. <br>We will go back there again. Maybe next time we will try the Mexican food.</p><h1>Saturday. </h1><h3>Oh, My Aching Back.</h3><p>By Friday evening my back was beginning to bother me. <br>When I got up Saturday morning I was hurting pretty bad. I think pulling up those posts the other day started it and wrestling the propane tanks into their place didn’t help. Then running the vacuum in the motor home was the last straw. </p><p>We didn’t get everything done in the motorhome on Friday. <br>Saturday it was cold and cloudy with some light rain in the afternoon.<br>The only thing we did on Saturday was to go out for breakfast. The rest of the day we read and just laid low. <br><br></p><h3>Broken Chair.</h3><p>Around 4:00, I was waking up from a nap on the recliner and as I brought the recliner to the upright position something let go and then recliner slumped to the right side. <br>S…t!!! now what? I didn’t feel like working on the recliner with my back hurting so I left it alone and looked on the web for RV furniture. $$$$$ </p><p>You can barely see the list to the right in this picture.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-_slEvAqjvT8/XDJZT4m1aaI/AAAAAAAArW0/Tp1IodHiO-oZVo0ZWwvsa5-Hru7v0MXKQCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4596%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4596" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4596" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-12qts-Vs80Q/XDJZXT_yHtI/AAAAAAAArW4/m0E0A9_eh9AllUNM8NWEfvwpoucmAa0kgCHMYCw/IMG_4596_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><h1>Sunday.</h1><p>When I woke up this morning my back is still hurting. I took some Ibuprofen and a muscle relaxer and am moving kind of slow to day. <br>After Patti got up and did her morning routine, I had her tilt the recliner forward so I might see what broke and maybe I can fix it.</p><p>What I found was a broken screw that had fallen out.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-cIwhN-3jUZM/XDJZZ6pToGI/AAAAAAAArW8/EdHwM1wLhdgVzFeINwSbI-m3cYdGyXUDQCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4597%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4597" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4597" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2rZZlolTlbw/XDJZb034CEI/AAAAAAAArXA/cGtHs9Hj6A866YDtrQufdgNoDareZnc-QCHMYCw/IMG_4597_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>I searched through my scrap screw can and found a 1/4-20X1” bolt and a stop nut. I replaced the broken screw with a bolt you can see the stop nut in the above picture. The system is pretty cool with no moving parts. They just lay out a bunch of tin roofing like a roof on the ground. This morning when I got up around 7:45 it was 34° degrees out side and 40° inside. Burrrrr.</p><h3>No Propane. </h3><p>I tried to start up the heater with no luck. <br>We were out of propane. <br>Yesterday we found that the water heater was showing a pilot fault which usually indicates that the propane is empty.<br>I switched the tanks from the front tank to the rear tank. That fixed it, sort of.</p><h3>Both Tanks are Empty.</h3><p>It appears that the tank switch doesn’t work the way I thought it did because this morning both tanks were empty. I thought that the tanks were separate and when the switch was pointing at the front tank that was the tank that was working. Apparently that is not the case. It looks like the system draws off both tanks. I don’t like that system but I am not sure how to change it.</p><h3>Electric Heat. </h3><p>What I am thinking of doing is to buy an electric heater. Because in this cold weather, we are using two tanks (14 gallons) of propane in about a week and a half. About $34.00 each time I fill both tanks. I think, to run an electric heater would be a lot cheaper.</p><p>We are going to Parker on Thursday, so we will see if we can find a good heater up there.</p><h3>Not Much for New Years Eve. </h3><p>There hasn’t been much going on for New Year’s Eve. Most of our friends have gone home to visit family for Christmas and won’t be back here for a couple more days. Those who are here had other plans.<br>We are planning a jeep ride for tomorrow (Wednesday) so that will be fun. </p><p>Okay, that is all for now.</p>Martyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02567448418333203194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8869420509584241326.post-81372916076918494872018-12-30T10:05:00.001-08:002018-12-30T10:12:27.727-08:00Fence Removal, Shopping and Cards.<h3>Fence Removal.</h3><p>Our friends, Joy and Robert, got permission from Tiny to move onto our old spot. They have a travel trailer and won’t be able to drive it into the spot because of the metal fence that surround's the spot.<br>They were supposed to be here yesterday morning.</p><p>Tiny asked me if I would remove the fence and pull the posts out of the ground. He has been good to us so I said “sure”.</p><p>Here is what it looked like when we were parked there.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Tv6Kfk_9-O8/XCkIqGHQoYI/AAAAAAAArR0/ZTn7FIoe9V8pEDKMrQoSM_8sOuMpQNZiQCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_2287_thumb%255B2%255D"><img width="643" height="484" title="IMG_2287_thumb" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_2287_thumb" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-BRlMo68hEQ8/XCkIsVSSbZI/AAAAAAAArR4/DfEr0F7IJO8aitW9gceLVXIznRWMS66OwCHMYCw/IMG_2287_thumb_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>In order to get a trailer in there we had to remove the two panels and related posts in front of the RV.</p><h3>Pulling the Fence.</h3><p>Around 10:00 Patti and I went over to the spot to start the process of removing the fence panels. They came off fairly easy just two screws in each panel and some bailing wire. <br>Once we got the panels removed it was time to pull the posts out of the ground.<br>To do this I used the farm jack and a short length of chain. As I tried to pull the metal posts, the posts would bend away from the jack instead of coming straight up. <br>Eventually I tried using a block of concrete for the base and that helped.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-qIGF0ON6Hb8/XCkIujpYrCI/AAAAAAAArR8/tQNtU1ysrBszzd-s_XAvg52TqqJy_P05ACHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4525%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4525" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4525" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-p0p7N1UJmog/XCkIwrrLYfI/AAAAAAAArSA/zi3D1jXehZUrLn-MOxC0CSV-j1rpbfjdQCHMYCw/IMG_4525_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>It took a while to get everything to work right but eventually the posts came out. It makes really good taco meat. </p><p>After the meat market we went to The Dollar General and bought a new shower curtain for the motorhome. </p><p>From the DG we went to the Road Runner for other groceries. <br>We made a couple more stops and then went home.</p><p>The taco’s turned out great.</p><h3>Cards. </h3><p>Around 5:30 Joy and Robert arrived. By the time we got them settled it was 5:45 and we left to go to Becky and Dennis’ to play cards. <br>It was just Becky, Dennis, Lillie, and Tom and us.<br>We brought our Jokers Rummy game and introduced it to them. The first game was a teaching experience so it took a while. The second game they were getting the hang of it and it went a little faster. <br>Around 10:00, we quit playing and went home. <br>I think Lillie and Tom liked the game as they asked us for the art work so they could make their own rummy cards.</p><p>Okay that was our Saturday, it was a good day.</p>Martyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02567448418333203194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8869420509584241326.post-18245037482213163542018-12-29T09:32:00.001-08:002018-12-29T09:40:27.436-08:00A Friday Jeep Ride.<h3><br></h3><h3>Getting to the Trail</h3><p>Tom called us and asked if we were up to a ride on Friday.<br>Of course we said yes.</p><p>We met at the Arco Station on the east side of town. Its only about 25 miles from Q. Living in the desert you get used to driving long distances to shop or to dine out.</p><p>Okay that was our jeep ride for Friday. We particularly enjoyed it as we hadn’t been that way before so we got to see some new country.</p>Martyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02567448418333203194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8869420509584241326.post-61438586076505298912018-12-27T08:21:00.001-08:002018-12-27T08:21:10.456-08:00Christmas and Rock Collecting.<h1>Merry Christmas.</h1><h3>Christmas Eve.</h3><p>We didn’t do much of anything on Christmas Eve day. <br>About the only thing that got accomplished was that I made a batch of fudge brownies. They turned out pretty good.</p><h3>Christmas Day.</h3><p>Christmas day we cooked a full on Christmas dinner for the two of us. It is the first full on meal we have cooked in our new place. The kitchen works well and has a lot more counter space to work with. </p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-zXn9mhQKHw8/XCT7tVljIEI/AAAAAAAArMM/ealJUW20GD0PWdqlc3RFAnPchs7AQgDKwCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4436%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4436" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4436" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-SFbeDgxGqG8/XCT7uIg-CgI/AAAAAAAArMQ/UPRhYz05A9MR3LF6tmFMITbYjbKyJiy8QCHMYCw/IMG_4436_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>We had a three pound half turkey breast, mashed potato’s, stuffing, gravy and candied yams. For dessert we had pumpkin pie. It was all good.</p><h3>Rock Collecting.</h3><p>Those who know me know that I am not a rock collector. I appreciate interesting rocks but if I pick one it is usually to give to someone else.</p><p>We need some rocks on our new place for borders and such so yesterday, Patti and I went out in the desert for the express purpose of getting some rocks. <br>After getting some gas in the jeep, we headed out Sunkist Road and turned east at the third trail we came across that went in that direction.</p><p>As we slowly drove along the trail I kept an eye out for interesting rocks.<br>I was being very particular about what rocks I wanted to pick up. They had to be eye catching and fairly large.</p><h3>Interesting Trails. </h3><p>As we drove along we noticed some interesting trails going up the side of a mountain.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-L_ldxt1tYxo/XCT7uwP4VhI/AAAAAAAArMU/-RER44TcY28oYxvqB_8feeb5sul3IkIZQCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4441%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4441" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4441" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hAggM35kPYw/XCT7v_xVmcI/AAAAAAAArMY/Jb4DfT9dF4oNvRE5ORuzrLZycfaa2kAGwCHMYCw/IMG_4441_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>Of course getting to them would take us on a long zig-zag course until we found a trail going that way.<br>As we drove along I found a rock or two that I thought were worth picking up.</p><h3>Blooming Brittle Bush.</h3><p>We are seeing a lot of Brittle Bush blooming. When I was done with that I went next door and borrowed Dennis M’s trailer so we could take all the brush to the dump.<br> <br>Here is Patti helping load the trailer.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-qXpS5goKagI/XCEADCrQBhI/AAAAAAAArL8/Hv924oQ845cVrmUS-ubkQkHlfCGYJBqEgCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4434%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4434" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4434" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XoKYeNKlP5A/XCEADzRsa5I/AAAAAAAArMA/vTugLXTGPCsEkZ_4a04pfimVmPh4LqyvACHMYCw/IMG_4434_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>We tied down the load and headed for the dump. The local dump has an area where you can throw brush. They periodically burn the brush.</p><p>When we got to the brush pile, I noticed that the rope that I tied the load down with was missing. <br>We unloaded the trailer and on the way out I saw the rope and a couple pieces of brush at the entrance to the brush pile area. I picked up the rope and threw the pieces of brush on the pile.<br>That was a lucky break.</p><h3>Our Sunday Chores.</h3><p>We headed back to our place and Patti collected all the laundry to be done.<br>Once she left for the laundromat, I started cleaning. <br>There is a lot of carpet in the place and the vacuum cleaner isn’t very good so I did the best I could. We are going to buy a new vacuum next week.</p><h3>Picante Chicken and Rice.</h3><p>I made one of the easiest and very tasty meals I know of.<br><br>For two people, you take a half chicken breast and cut it into bite sized pieces. Put the cut up chicken breast in a pot. Add a small jar of Pace Picante Sauce, a half cup of water and a half cup of <em>uncooked</em> Uncle Ben’s converted rice. Stir the contents to mix them up. Heat on the stove until the mixture comes to a boil. Turn the heat to low, cover, and let this cook for 20 minutes. <br>Remove from the heat and eat. <br>Patti likes to have corn tortillas with her rice. </p><p>Okay, that was a productive day. </p>Martyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02567448418333203194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8869420509584241326.post-49085051945552448182018-12-23T08:13:00.001-08:002018-12-23T08:13:26.928-08:00Preparing for the Container.<h3>A Cargo Container.</h3><p>One of the things I want to do on this property is to get a 40 ft. long cargo container. That way I can leave the jeep down here in the summer and have room for a shop and storage. I have looked at other options but the container is by far the least expensive and is very secure. </p><h3>Preparing the Spot.</h3><p>I want to put the container across the back of the property but there are a bunch of Greasewood bushes in the way. There has to be a 10ft. setback from the property line. Yesterday Patti and I <br>went to the back and started preparing the spot. <br>We measured 10ft from the back property line and 10ft from the south side property line. I tied a string to the stakes I put in the ground.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pXKGs6Sg1oI/XB-0A19vekI/AAAAAAAArLM/q19920-MAqIewG_Knkol6xf_DrdQdFeyACHMYCw/s1600-h/20181222_114411%255B3%255D"><img width="484" height="644" title="20181222_114411" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="20181222_114411" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-THcs2wqTmu4/XB-0C19afwI/AAAAAAAArLQ/O3jAzf5WEWs7Q483HK56Pip0uolt4mXqQCHMYCw/20181222_114411_thumb%255B1%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><h3>Bushes.</h3><p>There were a couple bushes in the way so I had to hack at them for a while.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--TaBrnSIe9U/XB-0FeesRGI/AAAAAAAArLU/6KPjepkC0vUCKFWWcwVRRJmNrYDTEVF7wCHMYCw/s1600-h/20181222_111636%255B3%255D"><img width="484" height="644" title="20181222_111636" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="20181222_111636" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ORqlEbfObfA/XB-0G-aYrZI/AAAAAAAArLY/iEFmGV9YDW8rw11uonLoTwW-87hYmI0GwCHMYCw/20181222_111636_thumb%255B1%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a> </p><p>I wish I had my Pulaski digging tool down here. I borrowed a mattock from Dennis M but they don’t work as good as a Pulaski.</p><h3>A Pile of Brush. </h3><p>We ended up with a pretty good pile of brush that we have to take to the dump. Fortunately I can use Dennis’ trailer to haul it off.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-OTyJJgD7xno/XB-0H9JMOAI/AAAAAAAArLc/-Oh9fV5261AEXfwgxhhORTh3lsbrENnaQCHMYCw/s1600-h/20181222_111732%255B3%255D"><img width="484" height="644" title="20181222_111732" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="20181222_111732" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-AA6ktKgNj0c/XB-0JP6mZdI/AAAAAAAArLg/yb-f_0POEVY0sDPlVZdcWuQAa2oPOIdewCHMYCw/20181222_111732_thumb%255B1%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><h3>Done For Now.</h3><p>We got the bushes trimmed back and the limits established. <br>There are still a couple of bushes I will have to trim so the truck delivering the container can maneuver. Once that is done I will call and order the container.</p><h3>A Ride to Blythe, CA.</h3><p>After we were done with the bushes we took a ride to Blythe to do some shopping and have lunch. Of course we went to lunch at The A&R Bakery and Deli. We asked for a loaf of their Spiced Cranberry Bread. It was fresh out of the oven and we had to wait for it to cool down before they could slice it. We ate our lunch while we waited for the bread loaf to cool. Our lunch was their Turkey sandwich on Spiced Cranberry bread. An excellent sandwich. Now that we have the bread we can make sandwiches from our left over turkey from our Christmas Dinner.<br>From here we headed home.</p><p>It was a fairly productive day and I’m pooped.</p>Martyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02567448418333203194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8869420509584241326.post-26851967775461482012018-12-21T07:51:00.001-08:002018-12-21T07:51:20.265-08:00A New Kitchen Sink Faucet.<h3>Leaking Faucet.</h3><p>Before we left to go to Laughlin we noticed that the kitchen sink faucet was leaking around the handle. On further examination I noticed that the column had some cracks.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mYFQGn6-4Oc/XB0L3NBfyhI/AAAAAAAArKY/M0aCROC-cS8hFwp3hZcAU_btywaU6zo2QCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMGP3547%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMGP3547" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMGP3547" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-YShupwImW9I/XB0L4BVD6PI/AAAAAAAArKc/h4R2cEfSseIXBA_xNGjyzI3c3bYCQDzzwCHMYCw/IMGP3547_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"><br><br></a>I turned the water off so we wouldn’t come back to a flood.</p><h3>Finding a Faucet.</h3><p>Yesterday I went to RV Life Styles one of the parts places in Quartzsite. I looked through all their faucet’s but they didn’t have anything like what is on my sink.</p><p>There is one other place that has RV parts. It’s called The Gamblers. I have done business with them before and felt like I was ripped off so I don’t like to shop there. Unfortunately I didn’t have a choice so I went there. I found a faucet that looked like mine but it connected to the water system a little differently.<br>The original one looks like this.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-05Xp1WB56bQ/XB0L4i6Ox0I/AAAAAAAArKg/tlFJVy91gHIrVqYe76rex0U-OHgC4JRRwCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMGP3546%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMGP3546" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMGP3546" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-q5SJsMFu6sY/XB0L5QKLoUI/AAAAAAAArKk/LYU9XmZ0c2s0Q8At_Or5aer2076KzuO1wCHMYCw/IMGP3546_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>The new one has a couple of flex lines coming down the center hole.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PSB7QDbWuRc/XB0L6DaOPQI/AAAAAAAArKo/VFqzuPOHsEIIGkCaLlrEIsqhWm0tlMvwACHMYCw/s1600-h/IMGP3552%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMGP3552" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMGP3552" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-iZdVOThtVqc/XB0L7I0KKZI/AAAAAAAArKs/iR4FH7WpCJ0Ux2z3zhyPrO5ltxEoKOn1gCHMYCw/IMGP3552_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>I wasn’t sure if this would work so I told the guy at the Gamblers that I would buy the faucet with the understanding that I could bring it back if it didn’t work. </p><h3>Taking the Old Faucet Off.</h3><p>I had a hard time taking the old faucet off because everything was real tight and there isn’t much room to get to the fittings. After a long struggle and a lot of French words, I eventually got the faucet removed. </p><h3>Installing the New One.</h3><p>The new faucet went on a little easier than the old one came off. But being behind the sink and virtually invisible it still took some time to get it done. Eventually with Patti’s help I got the new faucet installed with no leaks. </p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5_LYtTUlmvY/XB0L8PxCxhI/AAAAAAAArKw/DLEAZnDVDd4mpZl6riitX8O6vl5iLMahACHMYCw/s1600-h/IMGP3549%255B6%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMGP3549" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMGP3549" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-m36V6y0_9VQ/XB0L9XJJGeI/AAAAAAAArK0/nsbiyNMldcESHUE540fMhbo68ojWD4LygCHMYCw/IMGP3549_thumb%255B1%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>Once that was done I took the rest of the day off.</p>Martyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02567448418333203194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8869420509584241326.post-90876681850515666412018-12-20T09:07:00.001-08:002018-12-20T09:07:23.748-08:00The Trip to Laughlin, Nevada.<h1>Monday.</h1><h3>Quartzsite to Laughlin.</h3><p>We left Quartzsite around 11:30 and headed north on SR95. At Parker we stopped for bite of lunch then we crossed the river and got on highway 62 heading west to Vidal Junction. We made arrangements to meet them at the Outback Steak House for diner around 4:30.</p><h3>Diner at the Outback.</h3><p>As always, our dinner at the Outback was great. Patti ordered the Filet Mignon and I ordered a half-rack of Baby Back Ribs. Every thing was just right.</p><h3>After Diner.</h3><p>After diner Sue and Denis took a walk along the river-walk. <br>We made arraignments to meet them at the Subway sandwich shop at 9:30am for our jeep ride. <br>Patti found a blackjack table and lost $25 in about 10 minutes. She decided to try her luck at the machines and I went up to the room for a nap.<br>Patti returned to the room around 8:30 with a little less cash than she started with.</p><h1>Tuesday.</h1><h3>The Jeep Ride.</h3><p>At 9:30 we met Sue and Denis at Subway. We got in the jeeps and headed to Bullhead City. In Bullhead we took Silver Creek Road going east. Sliver Creek Road is paved until you get to the top of the hill at Bullhead Parkway; from there it is a wide graded dirt road.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4zEnwmYQu3I/XBvL0eBQCpI/AAAAAAAArG0/72Qm6E6V0BsDs1V0kHxOdPID4ocG-aBagCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_43413"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4341" style="display: inline; We decided to go to supper at Guy Fieri’s El Burro Boracho restaurant in Harrah’s at 6:00.<br>We met Sue and Denis and drove to Harrah’s. <br>When we arrived at the restaurant we found out that the restaurant was closed. In fact it is closed until the 21st. <br>Bummer. We decided that as long as we were there we would eat at the restaurant next door, The Blue Beach Café. There were only about 5 other patrons in the café. At this time of year every place on the strip is almost empty. I guess every one is waiting for the New Year to come here.</p><p>We said goodbye to Denis and Sue at Harrah’s and went back to our room. Patti stopped to finish paying her Nevada taxes at the casino and was back in our room by 8:00. </p><p>We are leaving soon. It was a fun couple of days and now we are going home. </p><h1>Wednesday.</h1><h3>Stop in Lake Havasu.</h3><p>Our plan was to stop in Lake Havasu City to see a movie and visit Nancy and Rick on the way home.</p><h3>At the Movies.</h3><p>Patti wanted to see the new Mary Poppins movie. I wanted to see the new Peter Jackson movie Mortal Engines. As it happened both movies were playing at the Star Cinema in Lake Havasu City. The times were about 20 minutes apart so Patti got her ticket for MP and I got a ticket for ME. <br>Patti’s movie ended about 15 minutes before mine so when I got out we met in the hallway.<br>Patti said that she enjoyed the movie but it wasn’t as good as the original.<br>I really liked Mortal Engines. It was a kind of quirky but that isn’t unusual for a Peter Jackson film. </p><h3>Visiting Nancy and Rick.</h3><p>After the movies we drove over to Nancy and Rick’s and visited for a hour or so. <br>We left about 5:00 just enough time to get home so Patti could watch the finale of Survivor. </p><p>Okay, that was our trip to Laughlin, Nevada. We had a great time.</p><h3>One Bad Thing.</h3><p>The one bad thing on the trip was that I got a speeding ticket as we were coming into Quartzsite, 65 in a 55. The trooper was nice enough to only give me a ticket for (Waste of Finite Resources). Not a moving violation and about $200.00 cheaper than an actual speeding ticket.</p>Martyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02567448418333203194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8869420509584241326.post-15044721581873962952018-12-17T07:50:00.001-08:002018-12-17T07:50:32.800-08:00Sunday, Back to the Routine.<h3><br>Doing Chores.</h3><p>It was wash day and house work day.</p><p>Patti took a load of laundry over to our friend Donna’s. <br>Donna has a washer and dryer and is always telling Patti that she could use her W&D whenever she wants. Since it was only a small load she decided to try it.<br>She left around 11:00 and got back around 2:00. It took her longer to do one load at Donna’s than it takes her to do three loads at the laundromat. I think there was a lot more visiting than laundering.</p><h3>House Work</h3><p>While Patti was doing the laundry, I did some house work.<br>Dick left a vacuum cleaner in the trailer so I gave it a try. I think we need to buy a better vacuum, this one barely works at all.</p><h3>Hooking up the Motorhome.</h3><p>After the house work was done I decided to hook the motorhome to water and sewerage. It took a little time to get the water hooked up as one of the hoses would not stop leaking. I replaced all the washers but that didn’t work so I tried another hose with new washers and that worked. <br>Now the motorhome is ready for guests.</p><h3>Heading for Laughlin, Nevada.</h3><p>We are going up to Laughlin, Nevada today (Monday). <br>We got a real good deal on rooms at the Aquarius Hotel Casino, two nights for $50. <br>Sue and Denis are also going to Laughlin for the same period and we will do some jeeping with them. <br>We are leaving here around 12:00 as we can’t check in before 3:00.</p><p>Okay, that’s it for now </p>Martyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02567448418333203194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8869420509584241326.post-53536561614348817802018-12-16T09:03:00.001-08:002018-12-16T09:03:52.228-08:00Hooking up the Satellite TV.<h3><br>Figuring Stuff Out.</h3><p>The instructions for the Sat-tv dome says that the cable should be hooked up directly to the receiver via the supplied cable with no splices and a maximum length of 50ft. </p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--36WiZ6movs/XBaFW2wNUvI/AAAAAAAArFM/p7-cTawT6kgkzRTbAIGoJV1CXO0T9FeMgCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4315%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4315" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4315" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-J36z8RArXHE/XBaFXvG9EMI/AAAAAAAArFQ/TFPSvFHzRL0RZ4jOqPXt-rmhwzxuI4cqwCHMYCw/IMG_4315_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>There is no way to get the cable into the fifth wheel without drilling a hole through the wall. <br>I didn’t want to do that. After a lot of investigation and trying to find a way to get the cable to the receiver, I decided to try hooking it up to the external antenna port and it worked. There are at least 3 splices in this cable. So much for the directions.</p><h3>Power.</h3><p>The dome has to have 12V supplied constantly to keep the dish inside aligned to the satellite. There are no 12V outlets on the outside of the trailer. I had to find some way to get power out of the trailer. </p><h3>The Solution.</h3><p>What I ended up doing was to buy a 12 volt socket like the ones in your car. <br>I connected this socket to the Battery. </p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-zeCYcJQTnCQ/XBaFYJy4WVI/AAAAAAAArFU/GGbp8Ts2UbwkvTGLez5ykmi7Og_AKjNBACHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4320%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4320" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4320" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-kMZb29AGlcQ/XBaFYvoI6WI/AAAAAAAArFY/0h0W2X21j2Euk21817isBNi_OTpVbEy5ACHMYCw/IMG_4320_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>I still need to drill a one inch hole in the bottom of the battery compartment so the plug can fit through and allow the door to the compartment to close.I will need to buy a 1” hole saw for that. I’ll use some steel wool to plug the hole after the cable is through. That will keep the critters out and can be removed easily.</p><h3>Mounting the TV</h3><p>I needed to figure out a way to mount the TV. There aren’t many places for the TV so what I decided to do was to take a tea table that we don’t like. I removed the legs and use the table’s top for a shelf to set the TV on. </p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-yNkZvIOhJKc/XBaFZPEBj5I/AAAAAAAArFc/cLN7Rz_tFyQl6F3UF7rGeOlgtazE4ElGwCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4324%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4324" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4324" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8_Lpnr11qVA/XBaFZjahpzI/AAAAAAAArFg/BiKWvCtYxowfrV7kxDtAyaplZSwXFNCiQCHMYCw/IMG_4324_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>I set the tabletop in the old TV hole just sticking out enough for the TV and put one screw in the back to hold it in place and make it easy to remove when we bring the slide in for the summer.</p><p>Here is how it looks.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xHdnsg8bVDo/XBaFaI28TVI/AAAAAAAArFk/j1DPKbr95kI-02U8GTAI4XcgFgjosFXIACHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4325%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4325" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4325" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-0arEZZAYZAs/XBaFaiCjSyI/AAAAAAAArFo/U146216IFLQycdMb6_bIp5wzlqbDAThRQCHMYCw/IMG_4325_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>The most important thing is that the TV works. </p><h3>The Parade of Lights.</h3><p>Last evening around 7:00 Quartzsite had their annual Parade Of Lights. The parade is ATV’s, motorcycles and RV’s all decorated with colorful lights.<br>It starts on Main street and ends at the community center.<br>The community center is just down the street from us. <br>Patti loves a parade so she bundled up, took a camp chair and sat on the curb to watch the parade.</p><p>Here are a few pictures of the Parade.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-FgDexXxlT_Q/XBaFbEsFTRI/AAAAAAAArFs/UU2_1l6BPwACBHFarZlxzkkETwjdChllgCHMYCw/s1600-h/20181215_193056%255B5%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="20181215_193056" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="20181215_193056" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-b--lPiuh6ko/XBaFbhwK1cI/AAAAAAAArFw/mSW1J5nET0YfeUnDlHmtuxy4TSmN-1csACHMYCw/20181215_193056_thumb%255B2%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8rLEtWBqyWQ/XBaFcB9CaGI/AAAAAAAArF0/WAHkdmHNoloYJM89ZXxHLr_g4FyqSGdugCHMYCw/s1600-h/20181215_193104%255B5%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="20181215_193104" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="20181215_193104" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--Zt11Cq3y90/XBaFcozfZoI/AAAAAAAArF4/T62PRSGwmwAg4rVt07V0j-NxqzSJvoo1QCHMYCw/20181215_193104_thumb%255B2%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-AFkzbN7q9rs/XBaFdMFqY-I/AAAAAAAArF8/lb1Y4PheB88t3jksJ6-PmIWZYanGnAVxwCHMYCw/s1600-h/20181215_194101%255B5%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="20181215_194101" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="20181215_194101" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-r9yDT38A44s/XBaFdhU0QzI/AAAAAAAArGA/d0dAMjmY_IA8wP7ad_QUUGrfB2T-jXCiQCHMYCw/20181215_194101_thumb%255B2%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>I stayed in the trailer but could watch the parade from my dinette window.</p><h3>Pie and Ice-cream</h3><p>After the parade we went to Freda and Gene’s for Pie and Ice-cream. We had a nice visit and came home around 9:00.</p><p>It was a good productive day.</p>Martyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02567448418333203194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8869420509584241326.post-50778993109065406852018-12-15T08:49:00.001-08:002018-12-15T08:49:06.116-08:00Still Moving In.<h1>Thursday</h1><h3>Storage.</h3><p>We moved some more stuff from the motorhome to the fifth-wheel trailer. We are finding that there is less storage room inside the fifth wheel than we had in the motor home.</p><h3>Water Leak </h3><p>In the afternoon a woman came over and told us that there was a major water leak at the back of our old spot. <br>It must have been leaking for a while as when I walked over to check it out, I got within about five feet of the leak and my left foot sunk in the mud up to my ankle. I went over to the water main at the street and shut off the water. Patti called Tiny (the owner) and told him about the leak.</p><h3>Cards.</h3><p>Around 5:45 we went over to Becky and Dennis’ to play cards.<br>We got home around 9:00</p><h1>Friday.</h1><h3>A Trip to Parker.</h3><p>We decided to take a ride to the Walmart in Parker to get some kind of organizers for the cabinets in the 5th wheel. <br>We were surprised to find there were very few of the organizers we were looking for. We did find a couple things that would work so we bought them and some groceries and headed for home. </p><h3>The Post Office.</h3><p>Patti wanted to mail Christmas cards and presents so we made a stop at the Parker Post Office. <br>Patti was pleased that she was now done with all her Christmas shopping.</p><h3>Wire Racks. </h3><p>The two sets of wire racks that we got at Walmart worked out well and expanded what we can get in the cupboards. </p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-V5ei92mrozQ/XBUwdtc-qgI/AAAAAAAArEs/nkWXdRI9FdEvW4m6ybNIXANUsTWzBh-xACHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4312%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4312" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4312" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-npstaRB3ynA/XBUweqadJ_I/AAAAAAAArEw/I_Qe0-kWN5szSamSEv3KuZwFFuVfjRLPgCHMYCw/IMG_4312_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PSX7JWq-rOQ/XBUwfL42uUI/AAAAAAAArE0/pkDThh3cBmYFm3UkA3TYmq3LdxuZKE6nACHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_4313%255B3%255D"><img width="644" height="484" title="IMG_4313" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="IMG_4313" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-iMDOQnGIApA/XBUwf4yL8VI/AAAAAAAArE4/FHLuHc9tuyUqOAN6sXWTCsujWo9eMH-qQCHMYCw/IMG_4313_thumb?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p>A good couple of days getting settled in the 5th-wheel.</p>Martyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02567448418333203194noreply@blogger.com0
